Chef Profile

Franca Facchetti, born in La Spezia, Italy, now resides with her husband Joseph in Barra de Potosí, a village near Zihatanejo, Mexico.

A former chef-owner, Franca maintains her passion for cooking and offers Saturtadys private dinners and Sundays cooking classes in Spanish and English in the open-air kitchen of her home on the Pacific Ocean.

The recipes in her book The Precious Ingredient have travelled from the Italian Alps to the American Rockies, and finally to the southern Pacific Coast of Mexico.

Until 2001, Franca served many of these recipes at her intimate three-star restaurant - Franca's Italian Dining - located in Cody, Wyoming.

The Precious Ingredient

"The Precious Ingredient", 220 pages of food related autobiographical short stories, a selection of recipes with a Mediterranean flair, and a pasta section with step-by-step illustrated instructions. A menu selections and work plans section ends the book and it is intended to aid the reader in successfully putting together a dinner party.

Playa Blanca is a tranquil place, "disturbed"only by the sounds of the waves. A short stroll on the beach will take you to the village of Barra de Potosí, where you will find local restaurants and basic food shopping. Half an hour bus or taxi ride will take you into the town of zihuatanejo. The central bus station will connect you to every destination, economically and efficiently.
